Delivery Vehicles

Delivery vehicles are tracked like any other asset, i.e. they are set up as Items.

Before you add new delivery vehicles, it's best to go to Setup > Item Related > Item Types, and ensure you have a separate Item Type that is dedicated to Delivery Vehicles. This will help keep these assets separated for reporting purposes.

  1. Go to Setup > Items.

  2. Click the + New Item button located at the top-left.

  3. Enter a Description for the vehicle.

  4. The Code is often entered as the vehicle registration number, or you can use your own internal asset number to uniquely identify the vehicle.

  5. Choose the delivery vehicle Item Type that you have set up.

  6. Optionally you can assign a category.

  7. Click the Configuration sub-heading to expand this section, and check the Is Delivery Vehicle checkbox.

  8. If you're tracking maintenance internally then check the Metered checkbox so you can be reminded of when odometer-based services are due.

This is all that is needed to add a delivery vehicle. You can optionally enter vehicle-specific details in the Other tab.

The vehicle can now be easily allocated to jobs via Sales/Hire > Delivery/Pickup Schedule, in the Vehicle/Driver Allocations screen.
